photojournal: Unicorn Ship Explosion @ SVA Goods Shed

Photography by Carmel King

On Saturday 9th November independent record store and label Sound Records presented an evening of artists from their growing roster featuring a headline set and the Stroud album launch by local improvised electronica duo Unicorn Ship Explosion - whose debut full length There's A Rhinoceros In The Mega Church came out just a few week’s prior - plus support from label mate Lara Jones playing track’s from their recently released EP Divided. The line-up also included a performance by the Stroud dwelling sm^sher, the new project by Imogen Mason from Voka Gentle and sets by local DJ’s Matt Sefton and Darius Akashic (Crooked Stylus).

Held in the round at SVA’s Goods Shed using d&b audiotechnik’s innovative Soundscape system the expertly curated night was a true feast for the ears (and the eyes) with each of the three artists treating the encircled audience with experimental yet wholly infectious and at times hypnotic soundscapes.

Good On Paper photographer Carmel King was there to capture the event as part of our ongoing photojournal series…
